This La Maestra Family Medicine Residency Program’s mission statement is drafted in support of the institution’s overall GME mission of developing residency programs while optimizing program quality and enhancing the educational opportunities and experiences for residents and medical students to meet increasing regional and national health care needs.
The program mission is as follows:
The La Maestra Family Medicine Residency Program will develop a high-quality training experience. Our enhanced training opportunities will provide a comprehensive education focused on the IHI Quintuple Aim and advancing Family Medicine through quality improvement and scholarly work. La Maestra graduates will be medically, culturally, and linguistically competent, caring physicians who are community-focused patient advocates that respect the dignity of all patients. This will be done within a positive and supportive culture of interdisciplinary professionals who share their knowledge to save lives together, ultimately advancing health care equity and improving the well-being of the individual, families, and the community.
(The Institute for Healthcare Improvement Quintuple Aim is a framework for optimizing healthcare system performance that includes enhancing the patient experience, improving population health, optimizing resources, care team well-being, and advancement of health equity.)
